Umm, the spray's a last resort, as only so much muck is made, and it takes,
I think about a week or so to make one shot's worth, and they can store up
to five, if I recall correctly. Usually, a real skunk will stamp it's front
paws, growl, take aim, and if you haven't gotten the hint by this time, and
are still bugging them, then they'll fire.

Personal opinion here, but I'd say that the first
response of the average skunk femme (or male, for that
matter) would be the spray - much more efficient,
effective, and MUCH more instinctual as a defensive
response.
Of course, we aren't talking about your average
skunkettes here, are we? :)
