I think there's a very good reason for it - like the
animals we (kind-of) emulate, when we form packs, we
usually look after the members of said pack. There
are few enough of us, we have to look after our own -
most people don't bother thinking about it that way.
Of course, honestly, it's not like there aren't enough
"normal" people out there....

But try finding somebody in a fursuit walking through
downtown Milwaukee. :) When you find that person,
you have to watch after them. If for no other reason
than riding "shotgun" while you watch for the men in
the white coats. :)
