Military ban of what? Oh you mean CAN help you greatly. Perhaps. But
it's certainly not for everyone. As was pointed out earlier, they
break down your psyche into pieces then build you back up (whether
you go insane and shoot yourself and/or the Drill Instructor, a
la "Full Metal Jacket", depends on willpower and such). And 20 years?
Wow! I've heard of people continuing service for fun and such, but
damn!
But hey, I've known a few people who joined the military based on
their dad's service, Carl Gustafson, who owes me money that he loaned
to me on the "Code of Honor" -=almost 2 years ago=- and has yet to
repay a damn dime, and Jeremy Threlfall, who joined the Army party
because his dad was in the Navy during Desert Storm. I met Jeremy
since he was in the same Navy housing edition in Alameda, CA (yes, my
dad was in the Navy too *sigh*). The way I see it, if I joined a
military branch, I'd do it for the usual "honor, duty, and purpose"
but of course also for the fitness, paid college (which I wouldn't
bend on, unlike my dad who chose Nursing over an M.D. since they'd
make him pay at some point), and possibly to pick up women.
Doing it because my dad was in there would be like running for
President since my dad did... *cough* Bush *cough*.
But you know my priorities lie in the "getting women" reason. ;-)
