I haven't seen the new V-Rod yet. I've had to stick pretty close
to home these past several weeks.
But I agree with your take on the crotch-rockets. I've ridden a
couple, and they're uncomfortable as hell. Sure, they go fast, but
I'd rather be comfy than a smear on the pavement.
Personally, I'm not too fond of Harleys. They're ridiculously
overpriced, and they still use an engine design that's 40 years out
of date. Nowadays, Harleys are more like status symbols.
Wanna hear something sad? I dusted a tricked-out H-D Sportster
with my 1995 Honda Shadow. My bike is only 600cc's, and the
Sportster was twice that. Yeah, his bike sounded real loud, like it
was trying to get up and go, but it just wasn't there. Man, I love
Japanese motorcycles. They really know how to build 'em.
I guess with owner-modified bikes, it just depends on what the
builder's goals are. My goals are for comfort (which is why the
Shadow is getting a 6-disc CD changer and a 160-watt JVC cassette
stereo with Polk 5.25" front speakers and Kenwood 6 X 9's in the
saddlebags. I love listening to tunes!
