Congrats on learning to drive the big equipment - there's a certain
attractiveness that I've always found in being able to drive a mountain
that moves... :-)

Depends where you are. My (limited) experience is that big-city police
officers get so much stress and harassment during their day-to-day
work, that they tend to be a bit uptight.
I live way out in the country, so the local and state police are
usually your neighbors, or near enough, with a lot less crime, etc., to
handle. [Fact: the state of Maine has more people killed in auto
collisions with moose than it does murders... usually by about five to
one.] So when you do get stopped, you usually have a pleasant chat,
get your warning or ticket, and continue on your way.
