Yes, there are lists of uses for old CD's on the web,
and I decline to post them here!!! Here is another
artistic use for them though, if you like fractals. My
favourite is from an engineering friend of mine who
like to microwave them... Get an up turned plastic
cup, put it on the microwave turn table with the cd
sitting flat on it, label side up. 500W microwave set
to max, bigger than this use med-high or medium. If
in doubt, don't use your own microwave (that is what
the one at work is for), but turn off lights and zap
it for about five seconds. As soon as the light show
stops (this looks way cool!), manually stop the
microwave! If not, you get a really acrid smoke
smell... Take out the CD (no, it isn't hot) and look
at the really cool fractal pattern. Turn the room
lights back on, if you haven't done so already! Lower
power gives more curves, higher power gives straigher
lines. Now these make _cool_ drink coasters!
Scrapper, Black Dragon. Everything burns, you've just
got to apply the right type of fire!
