I haven't lost anyone to cancer, I think, but in the course of my life, my
extended family has gone from an aunt, two sets of grandparents and a
cousin, down to.... my aunt. We have other relatives, but they're either
overseas or about as close as, say, New York and Texas.

One grandfather and both grandmothers died of degenerative illness, and my
cousin couldn't stand watching her grandmother (the one we shared) go
downhill, so...

No, I'm not trying to steal Jim's thunder here. I'm just saying, I do have some
idea about it...

It's never easy. In fact, it fucking sucks. But all we can do is live on, try to
support the ones who remain, and remember the ones who are gone...

Man, I sound like a Hallmark card.

Anyways Jim, hang in there and all, and keep an eye on your friend. I dunno if
he'll try anything, but he's gonna need support, I'm sure.
