to be honest I believe if Jim had told the girls what had happenned this

so I agree with it.
I would think that the girls, despite the way they torment and tease Jim,
they do feel something for him, or otherwise they wouldn't be such trouble.
Sure they're naughty, but that doesen't mean they don't care.
Jim coming in with a big hand shaped red mark on his face would at least
get them to ask what had happenned. If he answered... well, someone would
have just made it onto the sisters s**t list.
