Been on SAMA too long?

Since Azurhan did his post, I thought I may as well
post the other picture I've done. Was going to wait
till next week, but what the heck...

Just a brief spiel about the picture TooLong.JPG - by
Scrapper, Black dragon.

This is from an idea that came from Jace Draccus (one
of our revered moderators). Jace claims to have no
drawing skill, so I'm sure he won't mind I drew it for
him.

The geometry is a little stuffed up in a few places,
but I won't point them out else, else you'll spot them
(easier)! You may need to scroll to see the dialogue
lower on the pic. Was drawn on 80GSM office copy
paper with a small set of Faber Castel pencils (about
15 years old...), sketched in a B grade pencil and
pacer then inked in with a Pilot ballpoint. About 2.7
hours drawing time including colour. I can see why it
takes Jim so long - he probably draws at the same
speed as me, but does more in greater accuracy and
detail, hence the time variance... Ended up not
putting a background in (originally going to digitally
put in, but decided not to) and in absence of this I
should have put in drop shadows and similar to enhance
lighting and 3d effect. May go back and do this later
now that I've noticed...

That is not the colour of my UAV (Urban Assault
Vehicle), but since it was such a limited set of
colour pencils (and metallic hammer-coat silver is
hard to draw), decided it was going to be blue
instead. One of the few colours where I have a bit of
a hue range available.

Incidentally, the UAV does leak slightly from the
front differential, but does NOT leave puddles like
pictured above, though after the weekend I had a try
at that... Broke the exhaust off at the manifold, so
made use of the opportunity to record the raucous 92dB
(Sound Pressure Level in cabin - I own a SPL meter)
for sound effects for Scrapper - The Challenge fan
fiction.

You may notice there is no graphics on the bonnet
neither. Des? Hint, hint, nudge, nudge... :-) Doing
an airbrushing course at the moment. That just rocks!
So when I do get a graphic, I should have enough
skill to lame it and blow it onto the bonnet. Am
looking forward to the end result!

I don't draw well from nothing, so I lamed this by
tracing the UAV from a photo I took while on holidays
earlier this year and used grid trasnposition to
recreate Natasha's face from the model sheet Jim is
using for the upcoming skunkworks animation, so I
can't really take much credit, I just look around
until I find something similar then 'grid copy' it
across.

Anyway, hope it gives you a smile. Scrapper, Black Dragon.
