(I don't want to take the time tp pretty this up for individual groups, so
sorry for the spam. Please read the message below mine for information on
what's going on. Mods/Owners, I'd VERY much appreciate it if you'd resend
this message as a special alert... this needs to get out as much as
possible)

Whoa... I don't know what to say here... everything I think of seems shallow
and stupid, but I need to say something.

Jim is one of the coolest people I know, and for this to happen... well,
it's really beyong my ability to express how horrible this is to me, so I
won't go on in that vein. I can certainly sympathize... when something like
this happens we all want someone higher to plead with... but I don't think
it's gonna happen.
I don't pray... but I can do other things. Please deliver to him our
heartfelt sympathy and support.. or whatever... I can't find the words right
now, but you know what I mean, and I think I speak for all of us.
I know Jim is a proud man, but in times like this pride must fall to the
wayside, and we all need to come together to support someone whom we all
love and look up to. At this moment I am sending a message similar to this
one out to all the groups (Yahoo and otherwise) that I know of.. and I
fervently suggest that everyone else here do the same. We're setting up a
page at evosanc.d2g.com that outlines this crisis, and I'd appreciate it if
you'd all direct as many people as possible to it. I'm not sure how much we
can do here, but I mean to do what I can.
Our goal is to get as much funding for Jim as possible, and as soon as
possible. That means donations, asking people to buy his material, calling
attention to his auctions, and other things of that type. Also, a major push
I'm going for is to badger Rabbit Valley to give Jim they money they owe him
(I don't remember how much it was, but it was a buttload, and he needs it
right now). We need to drum up attention to this, folks... I'm talking
massive community-wide fund raiser, combined with a huge pile of people
dogging R-V for his paycheck at the same time. Possibly even a fellow-artist
fundraiser sort of thing (anyone remember the Images of Omaha books that
were used as fund raisers for Reed Waller's hospital bills?) I'm writing up
the page and sending all this out ASAP. Most people don't realize the power
that a group of people like us has... people think, "what can the 3 or 5
dollars I could send possibly do?" . If we ALL send 3 or 5 or even 1
dollar... it'll be enough. So DO it, and ask others to do it!
Also, could someone with experience with Paypal please email me privately...
we need a place where people can easily send money, and that's the best way
to do it. But I've got no credit card and no means of doing this right now,
so I'm gonna need help with it.
I've seen things like this happen before. If his eyesight is unrecoverable,
that's a horrible tragedy... but if he loses it because he's broke and the
world doesn't give a damn, that's unspeakable, and I'll be damned if I'll
let it happen.
Spread the wod, show you care, and lets see what we can do folks... someone
needs our help... now's our chance to maybe give something back to him in
return for all he's given us. Maybe I'm overreacting (I do that sometimes),
but that's certainly got to be better than sitting by and hoping that it'll
work all right. Hope and prayer is useless in and of itself, it's actions
that make a difference.
Des, I don't really want to bother you at a time like this, but if you read
this I'd appreciate it if you'd send me some more information on what has
happened (what exactly is wrong, how much the surgery could cost, where
people should send donations, things like that), It could help a lot. My
thoughts (and actions) are with you, for what it's worth, and we WILL do
what we can. Won't we?

Please send people to * evosanc.d2g.com * (or evosanc.cjb.net, if it doesn't
work) , the page will be up shortly.
You heard me! Get out and do something! NOW!

Subject: [SkunkworksAMA] !!!!URGENT!!!!

I'm writing this from Jim's account because it allows me to send the
letter as a Special Message.
Jim had to go to an eye doctor today. There's a possibility he may
lose his eyesight. Jeezus, I'm crying so hard I can barely read the
keyboard.
From what he told me, both of his eyes are bleeding internally. The
doctor said it was due to his diabetes. His left eye is worse,
because there's some swelling and the blood vessels are rerouting
themselves somehow (I'm not too clear on it).
I know Jim doesn't pray, and I haven't been to church in a long time,
but please, I beg you, if you can, please say a prayer for him. He's
too proud to ask for help, but he said he's probably gonna run
another auction thing this weekend to help pay for surgery (if it
will work in this case). He doesn't have insurance yet from his job,
but he hopes to get some of the money owed to him by Rabbit Valley.
Oh God, I don't know what to do. I've never seen him scared like
this. Fuck, I've never seen him CRY, even when a bunch of his
relatives died within a year or two of each other.
I think I'm more scared because he once told me his sole reason for
getting up every morning was looking forward to creating new art. He
said if he ever lost his eyes that he wouldn't have a reason to go
on. I dunno if he was joking or not, but I kinda doubt it. I don't
want anything to happen to him, but I don't know what to do!
I don't know what other groups he's on, but if any one of you would
be kind enough to maybe pass this information on, I would be forever
grateful. I'm sorry to have to post such a bad letter, but I thought
it was important that you all know. Please help.
