A few tips for writing stories for the group. :-)
First rule, keep all comments positive. There is
enough negativity in RL without bringing it in here!

I've been writing big short stories and novellas in
very limited publication for around 15 years. It
takes time and much practice (and helps if you've done
or seen what you're writing about to keep it
coherent!!!) to churn out even a half decent story.
The only reason my stuff is any good at all is due to
the amount I write that allows me to "polish my
writing style", as Robert put it. And I'm only
claiming readability, I'm not saying my stuff is
great!
Jim and all the other's who pull pencil or other
mediums will probably agree (I know Rustychair does)
that you generate tonnes of scribble for small amount
of decent art, whether drawn, written or whatever.

This is an easy way to earn more forgiveness in your
writing. That is, if you have a new and interesting
idea, even if your expression is less appealing, furs
are more likely to continue reading. If you rehash a
worn topic in bad prose, then the reader will just
click out to another page before they've finished a
screen...
Having said this, if you are writing fan-fiction, make
sure you learn your characters and extrapolate in a
probable way. If you write something that feels way
off character, then furs are unlikely to like the
story, even if it is well written. Using other
fan-fiction as reference has the problem of
interpretting someone else's interpretation. The only
man who has the real answers will try to answer what
he can, but don't badger him to miniscule details as
he's already pretty busy with his own projects (aren't
you Jim?).

Different ideas are fine (and encouraged), it just
happens many furs like the stereotype yiff and hijinks
the girls are renouned for. As long as it feels
'in-character', then nothing like having a few
speculative 'what-if' scenarios (I'm working on
one...).
Get someone else to read your stuff before posting. I
re-read most of mine about four times before I submit.
Bigger works I read dozens of times (literally).
This is why I offer to assist furs who would like some
help, but please do the half dozen re-reads and edits
yourself before you send it to me!

There is nothing dirty about Des and Jim's art.
Explicit, yes. Challenging to some's beliefs and
ideas, maybe. But face the fact the reason most furs
log in here is to see quality illustrations of things
they want and just can't have. If they could get
these things in RL (anthro skunk babes with hot bods
who want you etc), I feel sure they wouldn't bother
logging in here!
