On Sibe...
Set the way-back machine to about.. '98 I think it was. Sibe shows up on
Yiffnet IRC and starts raising hell. Total script-kiddie thing. Channel
takeovers, primitive WinNuke, script-flooding, and the whole 9-yards.
He used an AO-Hell connection back then, as did a number of other Yiffnet
regulars. Caused enough of a hasstle with his activities, that one of
IRCops G-lined AOL on his server and places a global ban on AOL in a couple
of channels. This cause some existing tensions between the IRCops, and
contrimuted to the temporary break-up if Yiffnet.
At one point, he started treating Yiffnet as his own private warez
network, starting up a channel, and getting his buddies to come on it and
start pirating. And when you get warez-kissies comming on, you get the
problems of them exploring the network and harrassing people.
I told ElKay that Sibe wasn't going to go away, and no matter how much
they tried to get him to behave, he wasn't going to be mature. Since he
was on AOL, all he had to do was disconnect and then reconnect and he'd
have a whole new IP. Thus a ban, unless a global one, wasn't going to work.
I also told Keershang about Sibe, and what I predicted would happen. I
told Tehshera, and Umm.. I can't remember the other IRCop's name. Started
with a 'B', I think.
Of them all, the only one that actually listened to me was Keershang. Her
bot was rigged to prevent a mass-deop, or channel takeover, along with
protection from Keer's IRCop account. As for Sibe and his flunkies. They
were ignored, dispite my reccomondation on how to get rid of him. (Global
passwords to get on Yiffnest servers. Each shared only by word of mouth,
so when (not if, when) Sibe got it, it would be possible to narrow the list
of suspects. Keep changing the password and narrow the list some more.
Eventually, you'll get to know who they were. Remember, at the time, there
was only about 300 semi-regulars on Yiffnet.)
Sibe's a script-kiddie, through and through. Not a perticularly resorcful
one, but he's not totalt ignorant. He's very much a chameleon. He's
probably on this list right now, copying everything that comes along and
adding it to his collection.
