Dear folks,

Well, just to get my few bits into the conversation... and I have a
brand-new "super" Wal-Mart just down the road.

1. I have trouble finding what I want in Wal-Mart, so I find myself
rarely going there. It's not that I can't find the section that I want,
or that the people working there can't assist me... it's just that they
don't _have_ what I want, even in the correct sections. It's worst in
their grocery and hardware sections - they just carry a limited
selection in everything. So, I usually end up going to the smaller
local grocery, or K-Mart... because they have what I want.

2. It is possible to keep Wal-Mart out of your community, if you want.
There are a few towns which have successfully done so. I believe their
primary method is to limit the area which a single store may occupy,
then refuse to issue variances. This does work, but must be enacted
before Wal-Mart comes to town.

3. If you don't like them... simply don't purchase from them. And
encourage your friends and neighbors to do likewise. And tell them, by
letter, what you are doing, and why you are doing so. Boycott isn't
enough - you have to let the corporate bosses know _why_ you are doing
so, and how much money it is costing them.

Now, back to the Skunkworks erotica... which is much more interesting,
any day, than anything Wal-Mart sells...
