  Hey all-
Well, the trip to DC was less than enjoyable. A thousand miles
each way, and we did it in 15 hours (each way). I didn't get any
sleep the whole time (try driving from Jacksonville, FL to Boynton
Beach, FL at 2am after being awake for 48 hours. Add to that, the
fact that all the laser surgery I've gone through has eliminated a
LOT of my night vision. I couldn't see what was printed on roadside
signs until they were within 2 car lengths away!), but we got the kid
back. My brother went to court today, and, thanks to the
inefficiency of the American legal system, nothing was accomplished.
My nephew's psycologist was denied being able to present info that
his biological mother is a fucking basket case, and even a letter
written to the judge by my nephew *himself* achieved nothing. He's
stated he does not want to see his mother again, yet the legal system
continues to drag it's feet. It'd be so easy to just shoot the dumb
bitch and get it over with. Where's the 1880's when you need 'em,
  huh? ;)
Shitty weather these past few days has prevented me from getting
online, but it seems clear outside now (at least for the time
being). I will be updating the website tonight with some important
info, but I reckon I'll give you all the low-down on it now.
That "thing" I was wanting to tell you all about a week or so ago
was *not* about Des and I getting married. *Tsk* *tsk* But nice try
  anyway, folks. ;)
    Here's the scoop...
In February of 2001, I sent over $10,000.00 (retail) worth of art
and prints to Rabbit Valley (then Mailbox Books), and charged him a
little over $4,000.00 wholesale. Also, because the printing shop I
had been using decided to close, I was in a pickle as to printing up
my art. Rabbit Valley offered to print my stuff for me, and send me
a check every month. This sounded great, so we shook on it, and got
  the ball rolling.
Over the next several months, I contacted Rabbit Valley to inquire
about the bill. Between the months of July 2001 and July 2002, I
received a total of 2 checks, each $500.00. I was aware that Rabbit
Valley was going through some financial trouble, what with the legal
battle over the Mailbox Books name and all that, so I tried not to
  badger the guy.
This created a bad domino effect, unfortunately. Folks who sent me
money for orders were unable to get their orders, because the money
they sent had to be used to pay for bills which *should* have been
paid for by the money from Rabbit Valley. I was able to get some
orders printed and shipped, but there are still many that haven't
  been printed yet or shipped.
Des and I drafted a letter a couple of weeks ago, and sent it to
Rabco, demading the return of my art master copies, as well as the
money owed to me. I did not like having to send that letter, and it
was not my intention to put Rabbit Valley in an even tighter spot,
but my bills have been mounting, and it's been rather tight (missed a
lot of work because of surgery, so I lost money there. My
transmission blew out a couple weeks ago, so now I'm borrowing my
brother's Ninja motorcycle and riding it illegally to work, and the
doctor's bills have pretty much wiped out my savings account and
Mutual Fund. If it wasn't for all of you helping out with auctions
and donations, I'd be in some seriously deep shit now).
Some of you may have noticed that Rabbit Valley no longer carries
my art. I gave him until August 10th, but after that date, he was no
longer permitted to sell or print my work. He has already sent some
money to me, as well as my art. As soon as the check clears the
bank, I will finish everyone's orders and ship them out post haste.
I hold no ill will towards Rabbit Valley, and would like to be able
to do business with them in the future (although in a much more
controlled way). Please do not flame the poor guy, as he's got
enough shit to deal with now as it is. In fact, if you wanted to be
cool, keep ordering your furry stuff from him, and help him keep his
head above water. I do not, nor have I ever had, any desire to make
enemies in this genre, and I aim to keep that goal.
There are going to be some changes to the website, too. Before the
end of this month, the new (final) merchandise pages will be up,
including new prints and such. Also, I have a PayPal business
account now, so credit card orders can be accepted, as well as money
orders or checks. But I'm not going to reopen the order page until
I've got this backlog of orders sent out. I might be slow, but I
never forget about orders that folks have placed.
I also would like to start producing the CD art collections of my
art sometime in September. Once they're completed, I'll post them on
  the site.
Des is heading out to school in about 2 weeks, and she'll be gone
for a few months, so she won't be online much (but she's said she'll
come by one weekend a month). She's supposed to be over here on
Wednesday, so if anyone here has been waiting to hear from her,
  that's when she'll play "catch-up".
The orders page will be shut down tonight or tomorrow night, while
I get caught up with everything. The final, new website *should* be
completed and online, in it's entirety, by late Autumn/early Winter.
I'll be updating the "By The Tail" website tonight, as well as trying
to catch up on some e-mail. I've made notes of the various posts
here which require an answer from me, and I'll get to them just as
  soon as I can.
In related news, I hope to have the Caterwaul site up before issue
one goes to press. No definite date on that yet, but I'll let you
all know when the time nears. I have to redraw that issue, and my
drawing ability is pretty limited right now.
Reckon that's it for now. Time to get back to work! Sorry for the
  novel, folks...
Talk to you all in a few...
