When I copyrighted my characters, I sent a letter to the Library of
Congress, requesting some info. Hope this'll help!

  Information Section, LM-401
  Copyright Office
  Library of Congress
  Washington, D.C. 20559-6000

For general info, call (202)707-3000. For additional application
forms for copyright registration, call (202)707-9100 at any time and
leave your request as a recorded message on the Copyright Office
Forms Hotline in Washington D.C.; please specify the kind and number
of forms you need. These are what I requested:

Circular 40a (deposit requirements for (C) registration)
Circular 44 (cartoons and comic strips)
  Circular 1 (copyright basics)
Circular 40 ((C) registration for visual arts works)
  Application Form VA

Hope this stuff will help you out. I registered Caterwaul Inc.,
Skunkworks, and various other characters in 1995. It costs about
$20,00 per title, character or comic.

love to put my cartoons on the net but I'm afraid someone would copy
them especially because of the Simpson fanclub experiance ( I did
Simpson style cartoons of famous people, and some ass was printing
them on T-shirts and selling them WITHOUT asking me!)any info would
be great!
