I have no idea what this is precisely in response to. If it's in response
to my pointing out that the vegetables in the supermarket are still alive,
then I will point out the following:
Yes, plants require air, water, and nutrients. but, like everything, they
don't die immediately if they lack that. The supermarket vegetables get
plenty of air and usually a fine mist of water. And half a plant's
nutrients, or at least it's main source of 'food' (sugar), is made by it
getting light. The meat you buy at the supermarket is long dead, even on
the cellular level. The fruits and vegetables are quite alive on the
cellular level, and often on the level of more complex systems as well.
Then, if you are referring to the seed that grew... Well, to germinate a
seed, it only requires 'water' usually, or moisture, sometimes warmth, and
generally darkness. Other than that, the seed itself contains the nutrients
for the plant embryo to grow. Oh, and BTW, every live seed -IS- a baby
living plant inside the veggies and fruits at the store. :)
