I couldnt help but pop up on this topic...
There is NO way that you can allow a standard image to be seen and not
saved.
All you can do is make it trickier which will annoy people.
Now making it harder for the bots is likely a good idea.
----secrets for those computer not so knowledgeable-------
When you view and image on a internet browser it is saved in the cache
under a temporary name.
That file can be copied and renamed to save the so called 'unsavable' image.
This always works for all standard image types.
Scripts that block saves only prevent the automatic save and rename of
that temp file in general.
The only exception I have found is streaming video which for some reason
may not be closed so has a file size of zero.
Those files generally fail to save in this manner but there is other
ways to save them.
-----------
The only way to make it real hard is to wrap the image in the page so
that special software is needed.
Use things like flash etc makes it harder.
Saddly the a simple way to handle it is to place it under password
protection and let people get passwords easily.
The bots cant do so as easily;)
As to turing tests, I personally dont see that as working if anyone is
serious about defeating it.
I have tried a few of them and could easily write a program to guess the
'human' answers.
Of course like many things the tests evolve and could be better now?
Sorry if this upsets anyone, but many sites depend only upon user
stupidity or ignorence to work.
I have dealt with networks whose only security was people not knowing
the commands.
So simple java code etc can stop the casual ignorant copier but thats all.
Still that is likely 99% of your traffic.....
