It's a genetic adaptation. The tails give the males something to grab onto.

Of course we can. But getting back to *this* topic... the female
Salusians have tails. The males don't. I couldn't tell you off the top of
my head where it's clearly printed, but it is somewhere (probably a letters
column). Ben Dunn was at CF a couple of years ago, he's a cool guy.
