Most people use Norton products, namely Norton 2002. From my past
experiences with Klez, I can confirm NORTON 2002 IS NOT ABLE TO DETECT
SOME STRAINS OF KLEZ OR ANY STRAINS OF BUGBEAR! I would reccomend
F-Secure, you can download the demo free. And the full version costs
around $40. Get it here:
http://www.f-secure.se/download/demo/
You can also try scanning online with Housecall. Housecall is
convenient, but can't find some common virii:
http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp And if you
want one of the best scanners in the world, you can spend $80 on
Vexira Antivirus (All the gov't buildings in my town use this
scanner):

And finally, if you have a recent (within the year) McAfee scanner
with Innoculator support, then you should be safe, too.
But Norton has missed 6 out of the 12 viruses i've gotten this year.
When it got Klez, it couldn't disinfect, so it 'quaruntined' it. The
quaruntine failed, and the virus spread across my HD. I tried to use
F-Secure, but it couldn't disinfect or delete the virus, because
Norton 2002 was actually preventing it. So I had to uninstall Norton,
then F-Secure cleaned me up. I ended up reformatting anyway, the
damage was excruciating.
But this is a CRITICAL WARNING: NORTON 2002 IS NOT ACCEPTABLE VIRUS
PROTECTION!
Thank you. And please heed. There are many more /free/ scanners
which do a much better job.
