I remember reading an article from the L.A. Times that talked about
this genetic specialist who patented the possible creation of
a "Humouse"(Half human and half mouse).
The man that was being interviewed made it rather clear that we are
at the stage where science fiction is becoming science fact.
He created this ethical controversy because he believed that before
someone created a living human chimera hybrid we need to work out the
ethics regarding the use of genetics and one of the amendments that
made slavery illegal in the United States.
A chimera is technically a human being that diserves all the
protections of the Constitution.
As I can vaguely remember,I believe that he mentioned we will have
the ability to create human hybrids within the next 20 to 30 years.
