True. The universal pronoun here is too good enough
for some of these "people". Sadly English has no set
of pronouns that refer to lower life forms.
Among the many and various to whom I refer are the
types who have suddenly decreed themselves (usually by
themselves) as "Guardians" of some "public morality
"or other. Like I said in an earlier message, their
ilk are the kind that threw Galileo into the clink for
saying the Earth went around the Sun.
They are also the sort who force artists to put
Post-it-notes over artwork on display at conventions.
The kind of slime who will "edit" rental movies when
the content does not suit them, and then try to evade
the copyright laws, and claim they have the "right" to
do it.

In case you're missing this entirely, (and the sad
truth is that some of you are) I refer generally to
that person, or group of "people" who will do whatever
they can to limit artistic freedoms (and whatever
other freedoms a passive populace will allow them to
take unopposed) while doing everything and anything
they can to maximize their own power and influence.
One glance at the landscape of current events allows
anyone to see that these types of people are on the
rise once again. While it can be said that like the
common cold, these people never go away entirely, it
can be observed that there is a certain climate in
which they flourish.
Fear, uncertainty and timidity only embolden this
sorry lot to excel in dong their worst, both in
matters small and matters of magnitude.
It must be said over and over again: The price of
freedom for all is vigilance from all.
Time and again, Furries have sat back and done nothing
when some person with "authority" but no wisdom has
done some small thing, which removes, a sand grain at
a time, both our freedom to express ourselves as a
group and a bit of our own self-worth and image before
the world at large.
The type to whom I refer with such utter contempt
would have us all step back "into a closet" as it
were, and then they would line up with hammer and
nails to make sure that the door never opened again,
then they would bury the closet, just to be certain.
At what point will we fight back, and take onto
ourselves as a community the responsibility for our
freedom and self-image?
We haven't yet, and that's exactly what these
"crusaders" depend upon.
They take.
We do nothing.
They take more.
Until we have nothing left but the shadow of their
tyranny over us all.
Small things, you say. A drop here, a drop there.
You can still bleed to death, one drop at a time.
So can freedom of expression.
Our freedom.
