Rabbits are the same way too when it comes to breeding, even worse
than humans. At least when our food supply goes low, we have enough
common sense not to have children in times of famine. Not so with
rabbits, they just breed and breed, even in times of starvation.
There is an account about a bunch of rabbits that were shipwrecked on
an island that had no predators to bother them, so they continued to
breed. There were soon so many of them that they stripped the island
of all vegetation. They only stopped breeding when they were dying
off of starvation. Look at Australia.
