  A lot of the characters I draw have their eyes situated halfway
between the front of their heads (like a human) and the sides of the
head (like a horse or lizard). I just figured that that sort of
layout would provide excellent binocular and peripheral (sp?)
vision. Sorry to make your job harder than it already is, but
challenges are good, right? ;)
