Well, damn, man, I sure appreciate the offer! I don't know if I'll
be able to go, though. Air travel is out of the question, because
the pressurized cabin could cause the vessels in my eyes to rupture.
And unless I'm able to get on this new time-release insulin, road
travel might be out too. When my brother and I had to go to DC last
year to get his kid, I was taking a LOT of insulin in an effort to
drop my sugar down to a normal level during the trip. Unfortunately,
lack of activity (common during a long road trip) prevented the
insulin from being absorbed. No matter how much insulin I took, I
was unable to get my sugar down. My sugars were also quite high
during the trip back from Memphis last year. I'm really buckling
down and trying to keep my sugars as level as possible, which is made
all the more difficult by a pancreas that apparently only works when
it feels like it...
If things change between now and then, I'd definitely be
interested. But I've learned not to get my hopes up that high.
