I'm doing okay, I guess. I had to take 2 shots in the right eye
(my good one), and it was bandaged up for awhile. I couldn't see
much out of the left eye, so I just kinda sat around and twiddled my
thumbs. After removing the patch, I noticed the vision in my left
eye was a bit clearer, perhaps as a result of having to work harder
to see.
Unfortunately, the next morning, my left eye was so full of blood
and debris that it's essentially useless now. I can see light and
shadow, and blobs of color, but that's it. I can't even see my hand
when it's an inch away from the left eye, it's so messed up.
I go back in to the doctor this friday for a follow up on the right
eye. Hopefully, it'll be okay. The doctor said the left eye will
require surgery of the scalpel type, so I'm obviously not looking
forward to that.
He asked if my sugars were bouncing, and I said they were actually
pretty level. Sure, they'll fluctuate every now and then, but
overall, my blood glucose average is around 150, which is only
slightly higher than normal. I think what's making it harder for the
surgeries to work is the fact that my body is fighting the procedures.
I've always been a fast healer, but after changing my diet and
doses last year, I really started healing fast! The most recent
surgery, which included 2 injections into the right eye socket, and a
lot of swelling, did not even result in a black eye. Cuts and
abrasions heal completely within several days.
My body makes extra blood vessels at the backs of my eyes because
my eyes aren't getting enough oxygen-enriched blood. Unfortunately,
these new vessels are weak, and they eventually rupture, leading to
my current situation. The laser surgery zaps and destroys the
weakened vessels. But then my body realizes that the eyes aren't
getting enough oxygen-rich blood again, and it rebuilds a whole new
network of weak vessels. It's so frustrating, I'm more than half
tempted to cut the fucking eye out myself.
But hopefully, this next procedure, whatever it may be, will work.
