I wouldn't say this was off topic, as it is art related and
fan art at that. Also the sort of valid question that
someone with JMH's expertise can probably answer!

An even cheaper system that most of us have installed in
our house is called........ The Window.

Wait till the sun is shining against the glass (this will
usually happen at least once a day!) and hold everything up
against it (no, the drawings and paper, not THAT everything
else Lori!!!). Not great in regard to not always easy to
hold things steady and leaning too hard can have
entertaining (for bystanders) results, but windows are
fairly strong to constant pressure. Easy way to do simple
copies.
