Not necessarily. I can't remember what Jim mentioned was the ratio of
females-to-males, but I don't think it was a greater difference than
about three to two.

I hate to rain on your parade, but just because there's slightly more
females than males doesn't mean matricarchal rule, I'm afraid, either.
Currently, humans are about 51% female, 49% male, (2000 census data) in
the United States and have been for quite a while, as I understand it.
Looking at many lion societies postulated by furries, the females
outnumber the male leaders by quite a lot - but there's still male
rule.
