Actually, I'm not sure you do, this is definately a grey area. There
is such a thing as fair use, so does that cover private commision of
look alike work such as this doll? Obviously if she started marketing
them, then you'd have a copyright violation, or if she filled enough
orders, she could also be found guilty. But a one off commision? I
think its legal, although good manners would say that you should
politely ask permission first.
