As somebody who's both bought and sold furry art for a while, it's
definately a niche market, which won't really support more than a
handfull of folks as a primary source of income. Looking at my piles of
prints, sketchs, and the rack of comics next to me, i've probably spent
several thousand bucks on stuff over the years. I've also sold some
prints, sketches, and comissions as well. I've even gotten some good
prices on comissioned work. I do those at cons, and in my free time,
when i'm not at my job as a laboratory technician in a millitary
radiation/bio research lab. I never really expect to make lots of cash
off of this stuff, what little i do take in is just a fringe benefit,
supporting the habit, if you will.

Take home lesson? If you're looking for a money making opportunity, you
could find a hundred ways to get a better financial return on your
investment of time and energy.

The best reason do to this, or for that matter, any creative endeavour,
is because you want to. Don't try to make fans happy, don't try to be
what you think somebody else wants you to be, do it for yourself,
because it fills some void that nothing else does.

If i never made a dime off of the art i draw, i'd still be doing it,
because it makes me happy, and occasionally even makes other folks
smile, too.
