Do we want to bet it was a Seagate HD? I have had more
problems than is funny with those disks. Hopefully the
newer ones are better, but I've had a disproportionate
number of them die. Hopefully he didn't lose any required
data. I've messaged a friend who said if it is NTFS he can
send me a utility he used recently to recover data from a
disk that did the same thing (it was not even readable when
slaved in to another system!). So let us know how you go.
Cheetah may have some magic up his sleeve and be able to
bail JMH out.
