many viruses contain their own email server
But the IP should be yours if the source was you!
Most viruses now days fake headers for who sent it, so the only way to
tell is to check internal header info to see if the send paths match
your email and check for things like x-sender or x-appearently from etc
for a better ID.
Oh, IE always exists, it cannot be removed, it just lies about it. All
other browsers use the core of IE as windows forces that. So IE holes
are everyones holes. patch patch patch! Patch IE even if you dont use it.
Dont use outlook unless it is patched daily and even so turn off
everything you can. Outlook is the target for viruses as it will run
many things it should not.
Here is an example
You can take any program you want and wrap it so outlook is told it is
music. When you open the email it plays the music..oops its not music,
ok use the default for whatever it was and open it!! outlook is so
helpful and trusting and now you are virused or just ran a batch file to
wipe everything.
That was suppost to be fixed reciently, but dont depend on it.
Use a virus scanner that checks email before its sent to outlook etc.
Nortons will do that and so will others.
