Okay, this can answer. I worked in a school for a while in
addition to taking 'studio arts' (jewellery and silver
smithing) while at school (damn that was a while ago!)
They asses your ability to apraise a work, to see things in
it. What can you determine from this? Your opinion will
of course vary what you see, but as long as you can say you
see whatever and justify it, then you get the grade. The
better you justify, the better grade you get.

It is the ability to interpret someone's (or your own) self
expression that is assessed.

Er, not quite. But arguments such as this can be sustain
in various circles, but not by me at this hour of the night
and this many beers (typing when you can hardly see the
screen I'm sure doesn't make for coherent answers...) But
I've worked hard all week and someone else is paying for
