I would imagine that it annoyed Des at first. But Onika has no
family (or others like her) in the Skunkworks reality, where she is
basically stuck. When she first met Jim and Des, they were entering
the room she was in, and she saw their two silhouettes combined.
The resulting "form" made her think it was Treska, who was (and
still is) her protector on her homeworld. But Onika had never seen
creatures like Des or Jim (or like many of the others she met during
her first few days in this new reality). She warmed immediately to
Des, because she was most like Treska.
In the comic Des has been working on, Des, Jim and Onika all live
in the same house. Onika, more often than not, will intrude while
Des and Jim would rather be "alone". She is almost as bad as the
trio in the humorous Skunkworks comics, but she doesn't do things
out of mischief (well, not always). If something's going on, she
wants to be part of it.
And yes, she is just as wanton, or perhaps even more so, than the
trio. Some of the draft comics Des told me about (or showed me)
were a friggin' scream. And I think she's got a good character
combo for the stories, too. Desiree is somewhat controlling, and
doesn't take any shit from anybody. Jim would rather be alone, or
doing the things he enjoys doing. And Onika, who has no concept of
many of the things that make up our normal, daily lives, has a
tendency to get into trouble, even if she never intended to. I'll
see if I can ask her to bring one of the comics over when she stops
by this weekend.
