I was happy that finally someone decided to put 'reality' into the fight.
Most the superheroes you see depicted in stories are not invulnerable so
anyone getting the drop on them is likely to take them out. This is
something that many gloss over in 'PC' renditions of stories. If you
have people who do that much damage to the area the other people are in
big trouble!
Being an avid RPGer, I have played many superheroes and I try very hard
in their design to give them a good chance to take a hit and live. I
have seen many who focus on uber-attacks and forget defense, sure that
is great if you shoot first but ambushes etc mean you are toast! Now
days I play DnD mostly and still try the same approach, survival is most
important. If you live you can always learn a new trick to kick their
butts next time;)
PS as an example of 'reality' and character design, in one game of
champions with new characters, another player's character was killed by
the ricochets off my character. That player just got up, crumpled the
sheet and left. Sad that people forget defense.
