My house is concrete block construction, and the roof is only
about 1.5 years old, so that's probably why it held up better than
the other homes in the area. Unfortunately, if Hurricane Ivan does
decide to come this way, I cannot say with absolute certainty that
my house will survive the weather. News reports from islands
already hit by Ivan showed concrete block structures reduced to
rubble. I hope the storm will take an extreme eastward turn, and
pass by Florida and go back out to sea, but I doubt that will
happen. All we can do now is wait and prepare again.

Both she and I spent several days at my mom's house, which is
constructed of poured concrete (stronger than CBC). And don't worry
about the art stuff-I brought all my originals, my important
paperwork (Social Seurity, birth certificate, etcetera), a couple of
sentimental items, one computer tower, and my cat and her belongings
all to my mom's place, just in case the worst were to happen. Looks
like we're gonna have to go through it again. :(
