So far, so good. I just got a call from Des, who should be here in
about an hour or so. Looks like we'll be spending another hurricane
together, oh joy. Her place is located more squarely in the
hurricane's path, whereas the eye of the storm is projected to pass a
little north of my place. We'll have hurricane-force winds here, and
probably some damage, but I'm hoping for the best.
My boss's boss expects us to keep the store open until 5pm
tomorrow. My boss is on vacation now, so I have to take care of the
place. I'm going in early tomorrow, getting everything prepped, and
telling the other two employees to get their asses home. I expect to
close down the place shortly after 1pm. My main concern, obviously
ignored by the big cheese? How the hell am I supposed to ride a
friggin' motorcycle in 60-80 mph winds? Ain't gonna happen, man.
I'm closing the place down, and will tell the big boss he can suck my
nuts if he doesn't like it. Life is more important than profit, and
let's face it, I don't think too many people are gonna feel like
shipping out packages or buying gifts tomorrow.
If we still have phone lines after the storm, I will hop online and
give an update, via battery-powered laptop.
Talk to you all soon (I hope).
