I think the negative term you're looking for is "Cracker".
A "Hacker" is someone who hacks away at a project until it is solved...
To a "True Hacker", "breaking into a system" is simply an exercise to
defeat a security measure - see how it works and how can it be overcome.
Once that's been learned, they would move onto some new adventure, not
having tampered with anything else.
A "True Hacker" isn't out for glory or to compromise anyone's info - its
the pursuit of knowledge.
