1) Get a Linux-friendly modem. Those require no emulated drivers, and allow maximum connection
speed.
They may cost a little more than the cheap modems, but well worth it. Don't get Winmodems because
of
the same problem. Winmodems require a software DLL application to run to emulate chip components
not
included on the modem itself. Chip manufacture costs pennies more than software, so thery opt to
make
Windrivers instead of putting all the circuitry on the modem card.

2)If your CPU has an AMR slot, try to use it. The AMR circuitry is integrated into your
motherboard, but it
can be a bit tricky finding the tiny AMR card. Check eBay. Some AMR circuitry use Winmodem
infrastructures, if it does, then go ahead and get a real modem.

3) Use BeFaster, or one of those Internet connection tweakers to increase your Recieve Byte count
if you
have a reliable line. Decrease this number if you have a noisy line. This number states the size
of the
packets the ISP sends to your modem. Set the other settings as you wish.

4) Find a good proxy in
http://www.aliveproxy.com/fastest-proxies/ Note: Some proxies are private
and
require membership [like the UU.net proxies], others do not handle HTTPS, and some have built-in
filters
that block what they deem "naughty." So you have to "shop around." Currently, there's none that's
good
right now, what with all of the Internet traffic related to the holidays. And no, Marketscore.com
is not good,
too, because it's spyware.
