As mentioned, using a reference is very important to keep
detail and form. A classic example; ask someone to draw a
bicycle. Everyone knows what they look like, but few can
draw them accurately from memory!

Don't confuse generating a structure with tracing.
Although you may use a reference picture to 'trace the body
shape', you don't take any detail with you. The only thing
structuring gives you is the basic body shape and
proportions along with 'correct' (providing the original
artist or photo was correct!) physiology. You then draw in
all the deatils yourself. Face, head features, detail the
hands, clothing, etc. So although you started with the
same pose, I usually photocopy the original to be the size
I want (so they are not even the same size when I'm
finished!), giving further variation.

Obviously, if you are going to draw Natasha, generated your
structure from one of JMH's pics of Natasha then just
filled in the details yourself, you will end up with a
"poor copy of Jim's picture".

When generating a structure, it is best to start out
referencing someone who has a simple, clean line art style.
Max Black Rabbit (MBR) or Terrie Smith are two big name
examples that spring to mind.

In fact, you are often better to go the other way - "Hey
look, this pose I've used must be really good as <other
artist> has used a similar stance with their character."
This will usually get a round of agreement (or someone like
me will suggest something else, just to be difficult) and
everyone is happy. Even MBR on one of the Zig Zag groups
has Zig Zag admitting she is in the same pose as Maxine
Bunny, "But why stop on a good thing?". Can't see anyone
complaining, "Max, you've been copying poses from yourself
again..."

Eh, have you own house then you can pile them anywhere that
makes you happy. :-)

Scrapper, Black Dragon, multiple ways to interpret the same
information (just because I often utilise the incorrect
interpretation). O_o
