I would ask you nicely to refrain from letting morons post on your fine
website. If I could I would comment directly on this right under the
article, but I can't. Now parents are looking for something/someone to
blame, as always for their kids or the kids of others actions. In a way this
is closure for the parents of the deceased and/or immediate family, and for
the parent of the murderous child an excuse to fill in for their horrible
parenting.
Now first off, blaming the video game company is like blaming Satan for ever
murder and injustice, its stupid. Why blame the video games they play? Why
not blame the parents for having the gun? Or blame the parents for an
obvious gap of paying their children not enough attention to notice these
problems occurring, or the fact that they may have bought the gun
themselves.
I alone have played violent games through and through over 256 times, 256
times. Can you imagine if what they said was true, really was true? Why
haven't I went out picked up a tac uzi, or an AK-47, Phascam or some other
assault weapon and mowed down hundred of innocent people? Because violent
video game play no part in a children psyche enough to make them murder
someone.
What violent video games do to our kids? And Violent PC games etc? They
desensitize children to violence, making them able to accept violence as if
it were a day to day thing, ordinary and sure this may seem to start
violence in your eyes, but all it does is what religion tries to do with
death, desensitize you into thinking its normal and is part of the grand
scheme. Now violent video games hardly make you think that violence is a
good thing, no they make you think otherwise, most violent video games are
about people trying to overcome the violence and protect and rise above
others to be hero's. Would you call an allies soldier who fought in WWII a
murdering bastard? I think not, or I should hope not.
Now lets focus on some points. Religion, religion is something oh so great
and grand, Christianity shows you the way to salvation yadda yadda. Why are
we worried about violent video games when we have religious freaks out there
who think everything pleasurable and such is a sin? Those same people who
start wars over their religion, do you see a problem about how it creates
and even promotes differences?
And now lets factor in some self learned statistics. 90% of a kids problem,
a minors problems are accountable to the people around him and/or a
significant other(A special boy or girl). Why not lock them away from
everyone else, isolate your children to protect them from even themselves,
yourself and everyone else. The other 10% is things like media, religion and
such which consequently is created by! People!
Now then, violent video games hmm? Every time you tell your kid to read a
book do they not read something with some violence? Surely if you've ever
read books before, almost EVERY book other than children’s books contain
violence and describes even depicts the act of violence and many times
how/what the murderer or defender etc is feeling at the time. Ban books? Ban
games? Ban society? Ban Religion! Ban your freedom of speech and free
though! Sounds pretty good to me!
Though many think I am over reacting, you fail to see blaming video games
for murders is much more a crime of overreaction than I am doing. And do not
EVEN MENTION COLUMBINE in this. The ARROGANCE of the likes of you makes me
sick, they blamed Marylyn Manson for that anyways which again is another
excuse he obviously did not do anything wrong but voice opinion of himself,
notice that falls into freedom of speech hmm?
I would quote the writer of this article, Jack Thompson but I find him
revolting and even aggravating, and I am a person that is usually very calm
subtle and relaxed, passive as well. But this man got under my skin, who is
he to say that we are "coming of age"? Has there not been school shootings
in the past? Mass Massacres, murders rapists and such? In fact I remember a
little thing called the holocaust, and yes I am bringing this up because of
Columbine even being mentioned in that mans article. What drove the Nazi's
to murder all those innocent decent people? Well you can't blame this one on
violent Video Games, or music. Or how about the French Massacre? Does that
have to do with Videos Games or music etc? No, you know why? They weren't
invented yet. In fact, according to this shmuck it seems everything bad is
just in our age. Now if you are going to bring up a subject like this, I
recommend this writer to bring up every little thing that’s happened,
everything I mean. The Holocaust was driven on fear and a belief, much like
Christianity, the media and etc etc. These children, they were neglected by
society, or fearing of what was going on, fearful of the future, and they
wanted more to go down with them when they went down. That was Columbine,
those kids couldn't take it anymore, they were scarred, alone and hurt
children. That was Columbine, it was not Marylyn Manson, who I listen to
from time to time. Wow I am a quadruple threat, violent books, video games,
music and even Movies.
Video Games, are an escape. Don't try and say they are not, because
obviously books are, are they not? Video Games puts you into the role of a
hero, or an underdog who becomes a hero, and the story line pulls and grips
you into it, the world seems a utopia to ours, free of worry and regret,
every action you can live with and deal with and move on, even if it affects
the future you can change it and adapt. Video Games put you in a place you
don't want to leave, they keep you there and stay with you wherever you go,
they also create an online community where you can find people to be with so
that you are not completely alone. They are fun, they are a blast and even
times a pain in the ass but you learn to love that rush that thrill of
sitting there and being a part of something, a team or being a lone wolf
against all your buddies, tearing them down and then poking fun at them.
How can you say such a thing is evil, is bad? This man seems to be an
ambulance chasing *Censored* *Censored*. Perhaps someone should show him
what life really is like? How alone you can get, and how deep in reality you
can be, stuck falling ever and ever into something that you just can't get
out of till you have one way out. Need I say that line again? You have to
escape from reality, whether it may be a book and you lose yourself in the
pages, or a video game and you lose yourself in the moment, or music and
find yourself washed over with the sweet feel of moving music, or TV and
losing yourself in the laughter, tear jerking moments or suspense and
action, maybe you find your place in sports and the like, wherever it is,
stay there and keep returning, and don't hinder others from going to that
place.
I am a Video Gamer, a Music junkie, a person who watches questionable shows
and even reads violent and murder mystery books! And plays competitive
sports! And even indulge myself in the acts of role playing with other
people, as a completely different person/being mind you! I write, I do
anything to escape reality for those few precious hours so that I may be
strong enough to face reality when I return to it. You find the acts of
playing these violent video games heinous? No, they are not or else all
escapes would be bad, demented things. What ever happened to acceptance, and
the ability to care more about your pockets, and be able to face up to the
fact there is no excuses, there is no reason a video game, music or anything
but people would do this to a person! A human is the single most biggest
problem to other humans! Why can't you see this? Or are you to blind with
excuses and the lining of your pockets and the religious morals to see the
obvious? Are are you scarred of what you may see if you admit the truth...
