Well, I'm glad to hear that you have at least a chance with the right
eye. It means you'll be able to continue working and drawing (one of
which, at least, you love to do.) I'm sorry to hear that you're likely
to lose sight in the left eye, though. I know it's going to be a problem
for you. On the other hand, however, with luck you'll be able to keep
going with the right.

I don't know if you're aware of an online strip called Journey to the
West with a character called Jack Crazyquilt. While I can't find the
information any more, I seem to remember that shortly after he completed
his studies at the Maryland Institute, College of Art, he got word that
he was losing vision in both eyes with no hope of recovery... supposedly
to lose all sight within a year or so. I truly hope that I am wrong
here, but I do have some idea of what it would be like to go to that
effort, only to lose the one thing you NEED for the kind of artwork he
did. At least he has his music, which I consider to be excellent.

The point is, you've got a good liklihood of being able to continue what
you love. Don't let losing one eye put you down. Your fans don't want to
lose you, no matter what happens with your sight.

Now, what's this about an interview? You looking at new work that better
fits your skills, I hope? I know just the thing: staff photographer for
a girlie magazine like "Chopper" or the like. Let you play with both
your loves, eh?

However things go, just remember that people DO care about you and want
you healthy and happy. And I don't mean just Des. (No insult intended,
Des, you're not a 'just.' You're also not alone in the sense I meant.)

...in an effort to raise some of the funds I'm gonna need to pay a
few doctors. My recent visit to the Rand Eye Institute (last week)
was not as good as I'd hoped. Full details will be available on the
next Skunkworks site update (tomorrow night), but, suffice to say,
the left eye cannot be saved. Aside from, as the doctor
said, "massive retinal scarring", there's also a cataract in that
eye, but an operation to remove said cataract would only aggrevate
the retinopathy in that eye. So it's a catch-22 situation. The
right eye is pretty okay, though it does need a little work.
I've still got to get some bloodwork done, and I've got a visit
with a retina specialist on Thursday, so hopefully he can offer some
suggestions or advice.
All that aside, I'll be doing a minor update on the BTT site, as
well as the Skunkworks site, tomorrow night. I've been working on
some various sketches, and have been trying to get back to doing
some inking (difficult with only partial use of one eye). I'll have
some art to post within the next few days, though.
Oh yeah, and I think the Ivory vs. Lori poll should be closed at
the end of this month, with the winning girl getting a special
picture drawn of her. So go ahead and vote! Unlike American
politics, your vote really does count here! And it'll give me
something really twisted to draw, too... >;P
Talk to you all tomorrow night! I've got a job interview tomorrow
morning, so I've got to get some beauty sleep...
