Personally, I'd retract that suggestion. Sucrilose is proving to be
chemically more dangerous than Aspartame, despite the fact that it's
actually made from sugar. Look up the reports on these two chemicals
if you don't believe me. A better choice may be Xylitol, a natural
sweetener from South America, though it's marketed as a food
supplement in the States. Xylitol and other natural sweeteners are
used almost exclusively by the Japanese and other Asian peoples. Some
of these are available at natural food stores like Trader Joe's and
similar places.

If you can use sugar at all, then you might want to consider
unbleached and unprocessed sugars such as Sugar in the Raw™® and
other Turbinado sugar brands. Being unprocessed, they may not be as
hard on your system and perhaps helping you to beat the problem. In
other words, don't rely on man-made products for your health. Look to
natural foods and natural products to supplement and replace your old
foods. You'll be surprised how much flavor they really have (and no,
I'm not talking about eating tofu; I hate it as much as you probably
will.)
