Re: Okay, folks, I need some input on this...

I want to touch on a few subjects here. First off and foremost, I do
totally agree with you trying to stop all the pirating that is going
on. I am a fair and honest man, who is also hard working, just like
all artists are, so I do not want to see anyone get screwed out of
their pay as much as I do not want to have happen to me. When I see
posted stuff like that, something snaps in my head that tells me to
destroy. I pay my hard-earned $ for art, so by posting it for free, not
only are you spitting in the face of the artist, you are spitting on me
too, and that fucking pisses me off. These thieves have a job somewhere
(well most of them probably live in their parents basement and sit on
their asses, but at least a few have to have one) so what if I were to
go do your job, and then tell their boss I did it for free, thus giving
him no reason to pay the thief. Now tell me that wouldnt piss them off?
And that it is a victimless crime. Bullshit. Every chance I get I will
report and ridicule any dumb fuck unlucky enough to be seen in my
presence doing this shit. To cut the story short lets just say I have a
major pet peeve with these low-life shit-eating wastes of our natural
resources. So I totally understand what you are doing and support the
decision you made to switch paper. That being said there is a few
things about it I want to comment on.

Unless I am forgetful (which I can be from time to time :) when I
bought the Heartbreaker print, that used regular paper, and it was a
new print. So folios are the only ones getting the new style? Or am I
mistaken?

And what about older folios that have been reprinted? Are they getting
the old paper still or the new? I am hoping for the former (read below)

While it is is no way horrible or anything, I do notice that the
overall texture and sharpness of the images on the new paper are not as
crisp and defined as on the old style (I have both the Better Mousetrap
and Animated folios). From the right angle the 'copy' words are easily
noticeable, and from all angles the raised bumpes or whatever the are
are clearly noticeable. Like I said the strikingness of the folio isnt
lost or anything, there is just (to me anyway) a like %1 or %2 loss in
quality, so if that is the only price I have to pay to see you stick it
to the morons out there, I can live with that. Though this does lead
into my last topic...

I have the folios of yours that I currently have purchased (not all of
them but I am working on it, just ask Ed ;) scanned and backed up on
CDs, that I keep in a locked drawer so no one of my housemates can
touch them. I do this because no matter the quality of paper,
eventually those folios will yellow and lose their luster. I know I
made a similar comment like this before when you announced the
switching over to the new paper style, the only small downside of using
it is I lose the ability to archive your stuff. Though I do realize I
am in the minority of people who keep it to themselves (as evidenced by
the amount of high-res posters out there) so should my wanting to
archive them really be taken into account when I am just one person? I
mean they can still be archived, they just look *quite* different than
the originals ;) I have not actually tried scanning the new ones yet,
but from testimony it looks like the 'copy' thing works.

Whew. Well, thats my view in a nutshell ;p
