i used to have dreams that i thought to be..... unpleasant and used to run from them for a long time. i found the easiest way to stay awake was to eat. for me it was impossible for me to crash if i was snacking on something, and being that tiredness comes in waves i found that as long as i could get past that wave of sleep i was good for another 8 hours. mind you i'm adhd to the point of hyperglycemia. everything i eat i immediately burn and my body then goes to eat itself, meaning anything i eat gives immediate charge and my body keeps up with the snacks i eat (as far as wieght). the longest i was able to stay up with this technique was 5 days (may i say i never recommend staying up that long your dreams and waking start melding). the other thing that worked when that would fail is when i started blinking out to go do something physical and get the blood running or find someone interesting to talk to to keep awake. hope these ideas help a bit
i've since been able to make sense of my dreams and don't run anymore i hope your able to find adn fix whatever keeps from your own dreams.
