For some reason, this thread reminds me of the scene in "The Agony and The
Ecstacy" when the Pope calls in two 'experts' to examine the paintings being
done on the ceiling of the Sistene Chapel. The 'art' expert deplores it
because it not done in the Greek Canon, and the 'theological' expert
deplores it becuase of the nudity. In the end, the Pope allows the painting
to continue and today the Sistene Chapel is considered a work of art, almost
unsurpassed. I guess I'm trying to say; Why should we see any art as a
threat? It's not. It's the deliberate repression or restriction of art that
is a threat. Anyway, that's my confused two cents.
