Hey all-
Just thought I'd post a picture I just finished. It was sort of a
test piece, really. It's been a long time since I've done any inking
and decent coloring, so I figured this picture would be a good
exercise.
Now that I'm fairly confident I can wield a pen and pencil with
pseudo-deadly force again, I'm going to tackle a few outstanding
commissions. I didn't want to do a half-assed job before, so I've
been practicing my skills quite a bit recently, and I'm sure I can do
justice to the commissions now. There are a few folks I will be
contacting over the weekend to discuss their commissions and such. If
you're waiting to hear from me, hang on; I've got a ton of unanswered
e-mails that I'm going to try to get to before the middle of next week.
Anyway, the file I just uploaded shows the level of realism
(although it's not a very good scan) I've been striving for for the
past few years. All portfolios and prints, beginning in January of
2007, will utilize this style. The pictures take much longer to draw
(this one took about 50 hours), but the end result is worth it, I
think. After I take care of the commissions, I will upload the covers
for "Team Player" and "Onika". The folio "Bigger Than Life 2" will be
out before the end of this autumn, and will be the last folio I will
be producing in the older style and format.
I'm entertaining the idea of attending both AC and MFM next year,
should my health still be reasonably decent, and my bike is finished
by then (no planes for me, thank you). I'll keep you all posted on
any progress.
Hope you enjoy the picture! Now I have to do a HD swap, since the
one on my computer has been making some very ominous sounds as of
lately...

PS- Well, Mr. Giacobe, it looks like your wait may be near it's end.
Thanks for your patience!
That's great too hear, Jimbo. What made you consider going to the cons
again? From what you said in the past, it seemed as if it would be a long time
before you ever go again, if not never. I just hope that you're more physically
capable of handling such if you can manage to go. If you do plan to go to AC,
it would be best that you talk to those that went to the new location, just
so you can be well informed of the hotel's layout & good spots for eating
(Steel City Diner ftw!) I know you'll enjoy MFM, being that it's the more quiet
of al the cons.
As for your HD, what size are you looking to get? I'll be going to a
computer how next weekend & can find you a good drive to invest in. Getting a drive
at a comp show is far cheaper than buying it off the shelf. Also, I'll be
offering my 80GB up once I transfer all my data to my new 300GB, so do keep me
informed & I'll see about keeping your computer cost as low as possible.
