Furries are, on the whole, poor and socially defective. And if it makes you feel better, rap music is /much/ more highly pirated, stolen, and illegally modified. So in the end, furries are "better" than most gangstahs :)
Also, compare Sibe to Eric Bauman. Sibe is villified and prosecuted, a hated member of the fandom who may or may not be shot some day (fingers crossed!). Eric Bauman has a very successful site based purely off of pirating flash videos from NewGrounds and AlbinoBlackSheep. By the same argument, furries are (marginally) "better" to their artists than the Flash community.
Artists standing up: I think it's time too. I confess, for awhile I browsed imageboards purely for the sake of piracy, but now I kinda don't see the point. The only things I'd care to pirate I either already own, or can reasonably afford. It's gotten to the point where I'll go to an imageboard and save images not for the sake of piracy, but because I want hi-res scans of what I already own. Even then I barely go anymore, since everything is either a repost I have/don't care about, or from a site I already subscribe to.
And it's not like you can't find a /ton/ of free furry porn on FA, almost none of which is pirated. Fuck, that's where the vast majority of my porn comes from now, and all I have to do is be polite in my comments.
You've been more forgiving than anyone else, and you still post (or permit the posting of) some of your stuff, which is a lot more than most artists. I'd still say you're the most board-friendly artist.
Furry porn /rarely/ decreases in value, and if you buy the right stuff and sell it at the right time (cough cough Christmas cough) you can make a big load of money. I once sold EWS's "Archive of Too Much Adult Art" (redundant since, at the time, I was a member of FAD) for $124, and I sold my copies of "Genus: Focus on Skunkworks" (all three) for $50. And I think those are still available at Second Ed :)
A friend of mine is a stock broker, but he doesn't invest in stock. Instead, he invests in collectibles. Why? Because, as he said, "Collectibles don't embezzle, don't steal from the company, and even if the end up being worthless you can still enjoy them." Note that this is the guy who once bought $1000 worth of MAgic cards, and he doesn't even know how to play.

Yup. In the past, I had submitted several of my works to the LoC
for registration, but unfortunately, not all of them (gets a little
costly). What I'm doing now is producing the entire year's worth of
folios and prints (which should be completed by the end of winter),
and then submitting them all prior to their public release. There
are a few lawyers I've checked into as well, since I want to have
one of them draft up and/or approve the notice that will be included
in every folio, stating they are registered works, yada yada yada.
Personally, I think more artists need to take such a stand. I
never have issues such as this with my mainstream work, and I've
been selling that stuff longer than the furry art! Go figure, huh?

point. Hell, I've seen you post up stuff on imageboards, provided
it's not part of a folio or anything.
Thanks. Time is short nowadays, so I've decided to be less gentle
in the future. >;P

honest price, and ended up selling 'em all over the summer for 2x-3x
what I paid originally. That's better than a fucking mutual fund :)
And I got to enjoy them right up until I skipped a rent payment.
Sweet. I'm glad their sales were able to help you out of a jam
(been there myself before!). And your folks probably said porn
would never do you any good, right? :D
