According to Des, Onika was caught doing something wrong, red-
handed, and is trying to sob her way out of it, while trying to blame
Treska, saying she was the one throwing the eggs (hence, Treska's
astonished expression). Jim doesn't care who threw the eggs, because
all that matters to him is that there are eggs all over the house,
and all over his quills. That's why he's wrapping his hand around
Onika's neck and making a fist with the other one. Treska would
normally prevent such an event, but she apparently thinks Onika
  deserves it this once.
By the by, since Treska is Onika's defined guardian, they share a
rapport which could technically be termed psychic or intuitive.
Treska KNOWS when Onika is getting into trouble, often before Onika
knows it herself. Likewise, Treska can sense a person's thoughts or
intentions, but only when they are directed at Onika or herself. She
cannot read a person's mind if they're, say, looking at a magazine in
the store, and trying to decide what to cook for dinner that night.
It is merely an extended sense which enables the protectors to keep
their charges out of harm's way.
All this stuff is detailed on the appropriate website. I'm working
on a few commissions now, but will resume working on the site when
the commissions are taken care of (probably mid-December). I really
want to get all their info out to the public.
