Interestingly enough, for the most part, there was no arguing going
on. Discussion, yes, and points and counterpoints, but generally not
arguing. More like "Hmm, good point on YYY, I like that. What about
ZZZ? And you definitely have to consider XXX." (Because we all know that
we like XXX. ;) )
A few people tried to turn it into "I'm right and you're wrong" by pushing
buttons, but that was not at all the goal for the majority of the folks who
were discussing. The primary intent was not to have "right or wrong", but
to see what we could discover as a group thought process. Then some people
had to decide to throw "This is what I believe and it's right or else" and
human superiority and other such things into it and cause problems. It's
amusing that the phrase "grow up" is more frequently than not used by those
of immature mindsets. The more cussing in and around the phrase, the more
immature their mindset tends to be. People who are already "grown up" tend
to use phrases like "Let's try to keep this discussion clean" and other
such non-offensive terminology.
