Let's start with a definition:
Illegal (in this case) is "Anything that violates copyright law and/or
infringes on the copyright holder's rights as defined by title 17 sections
106-122 in a manner which can allow the copyright holder to take action
under copyright law." Illegal does not mean "Crime and go to jail", it
means "You've infringed on rights held by somebody else". And it CAN mean
that you can be litigated against in all cases.

Quote to me the section of law (with source) that you (and Lafitte) claim
says this is okay and does not infringe and thus no action can be taken
against you.
